Time to make a sandwich!

A quilt sandwich, that is!  I finished my top this afternoon!  I must say, I like it way more than I was expecting to!

Here it is earlier, as I was laying out the last few blocks:

And I asked Hubby to take a picture of me sewing one of the last long seams:

It ended up being a lot bigger than I was expecting, and I think it's the perfect size for cuddling up with a book (or Netflix) on a chilly evening.

Here's the whole top, completed:

I had so much fun making this, and with the Disappearing Nine-Patch, I think you can't really go wrong - great for someone like me, who lacks confidence in putting together fabric combinations.

Now I just have to decide if I want the back to be plain muslin, or if I want to dress it up a little.  I have a couple tiny pieces of some of these fabrics left.

    1. It really isn't - it's all short, straight seams. Most of the time I don't even pin the pieces together!

  3. So cute! I love the pastels, it reminds me of those Depression-era quilts from the 30s. :)

I really need to make a quilt out of all the scraps I have, but they're just *so* time-consuming . . .

    1. I think I bought the fabric with those Depression-era quilts in mind. That style doesn't really fit into my super-modern house now, unfortunately!

I did manage to make mitered cornered napkins yesterday so that's a start.

    1. Hehehe - no, I just finished the best part! Now comes the work! I'm going to quilt it, but haven't yet decided if I'll do it by hand or machine. I'm going to play around with some samples and my free motion foot and see how I do :-)
