"Work" in Progress

It really should be called "Fun in Progress . . ."

Here's what I've been working on for the last few days:

Anybody know what that is?  I'm sure some of you do!

I even made TWO bodice muslins AND did a swayback adjustment to get the fit right - what's come over me?!

My original plan was to use another of the lovely prints from the Dear Stella Maasai Mara collection, but reason prevailed, so my first go is being done with a pretty yet very inexpensive cotton lawn from my local fabric shop.  With any luck, I'll have a finished dress in a day or two!

  1. Um, a Lonsdale? I'm only guessing, mind, as it's the only thing I can think of that has a knot in the straps! I've never made it before so no idea what the pieces look like...Anyway, whatever it is, it looks pretty cool!

    1. I'm hoping so! That's another part of the reason I wanted to try this one out in a less precious fabric - I'm really not sure it will work for me, and there's only one way to find out!

  4. I can't wait to see this on you. I keep going back and forth between the Cambie and Lonsdale, but I haven't bought either yet.

  5. I'm making the same dress! And I was crazy enough NOT to muslin. I did try to guage the size based on things that fit, so fingers crossed.

    1. Funny! My first inclination was not to do a muslin, because my measurements fall exactly in the size 6 column on Sewaholic. But I'm so glad I decided to be a good girl - there was a lot more ease on the size 6 than I wanted, so I ended up going down to a 4! I'm finding that I'm more willing to do the muslin if I'm really attached to my fabric, LOL!

  7. A Lonsdale! Woo hoo, you're taking the plunge! It's going to look great with that fabric. I think I also ended up making two muslins (plus the swayback adjustment) before I finally made my first one.

    1. Yes, your yellow one inspired me! Also, it keeps the symmetry of the pattern flip-flop you and I have been doing lately, LOL!

  9. This is going to be cute. Well done doing the muslins. Sometimes it just has to be done and is usually totally worth it.
