Pencil No. 2

I made another pencil skirt yesterday, same as the first.

I used one yard of this printed stretch denim from JoAnn's.   It has a lot of pretty colors.

I have nothing more to say.

You may now breathe your sigh of relief.

  1. Lovely fabric. It looks like a Monet waterlily painting.

    1. That's exactly what I thought! I sort of wish I'd bought enough to make a dress :-)

  2. Ahh lovely - such a different look to your previous one. I bet this was fast to sew up after such a rigorous fitting process prior to this. And it seems you are talked out!!!

    1. It was - took me a total of 3 hours, which includes hemming by hand. That's a very quick make for me, as I'm slow :-)

    1. Well, I might not be the best person to ask about wear, as I probably won't be wearing either of these very frequently, and I tend to be pretty gentle on clothes. But I was pleased with the quality, and they both had a high cotton content. I'd buy them again.

  5. So pretty!!

ooh and the fabric I have to construct a pencil skirt from is *also* a stretch denim from JoAnn's! I think I might escape work early today since it's "snowing horizontally" (my own phrase). I need a little sewing time :)

    1. And the teal! I've got some teal suede boots I'm hoping will go well with this :-) As soon as I wear it, I will try to get a pic.

  9. Love the print on this. I wish there was a JoAnn's near me but the closest is 1.5 hours one way. :(
The skirt looks great and it is so nice that you have the fit worked out

    1. Whoa, that's far! I've only recently started buying fabric there - I've heard they're carrying more natural fiber fabrics these days, which is great. I used to drive 20 miles to one, but they just opened in my neighborhood in November. I'm so glad they did!

    1. Me too - I think florals are my first love. I have a hard time getting myself to make anything in a solid color!

    1. I think so too - going to have to take a good look through my closet and make up some outfits. Sadly, the sweater I first picked that goes great color-wise doesn't fit me any more :-(

  18. Wow! I would never have thought that JoAnn's would have such a great fabric. I can't even find the right notions when I duck in there (they're always out of whatever item I need).

    1. Seems like there are "good" JoAnns and "bad" JoAnns. I'm lucky that the new one by my house keeps their stock very nicely updated so far. Hope it continues that way, because the second nearest one is always a shambles.
