Here's the Renfrew I made over the weekend - my first long-sleeved version.
This print is probably a little too juvenile for me - it reminds me of little girls' pajamas. But I don't care. I wanted some cheerful tee shirts to brighten the winter days that are coming. And this is pretty darned cheerful!
It's warm too, because the fabric (from Girl Charlee, natch) is a cotton-lycra blend, so it's on the heavier side. But I have to admit, it's not my favorite kind of jersey to sew. It tends to resist the needles, pins and rotary cutter. But it turned out well. I even did a cute little zigzag neck edging for the first time:
I'm going to put this on today and head out to the fabric store!
very cute! why should pj's have all the girly florals? i do tend to accessorize more heavily when something is borderline, but i think you're good to go with this one! have fun fabric shopping! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really mostly for wearing around the house (since I never go anywhere but the grocery store!). Everytime I look at the flowers it makes me smile!
DeleteLove the print. Not juvenile at all. And what, pray tell, are you getting at the fabric store? :)
ReplyDeleteI've been and come back! I got lacy, sparkly stuff!
DeleteLovely top, I like the print! And it looks so professionally sewn!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt's so cute! I love the print.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt is super cute and perfect for your grey winters to have a little cheerful color.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but smile if I'm looking at pink flowers!
DeleteThat neckline is so neatly done!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I guess after 7 of these, I'm getting pretty good, LOL!
DeleteI can see why you might think that the fabric pattern is for little girls, but I would argue that it is for girls of any age, it's that cute. But I'm not a fan of that fabric blend, I've stopped buying anything made out of it because it shrinks like crazy!
ReplyDeleteI've got my fingers crossed this one won't. I did prewash, but sometimes you still get a nasty surprise! Line drying helps though :-)
DeleteI love this! It's so, so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteIt really is cheerful! And why should little girls get all the happiness?
ReplyDeleteHehehe!
DeleteI'm a total sucker for florals. I think it's cute :D And if you makes you happy then awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for florals too. And real-life flowers - I have thousands of flower pictures I've taken over the years!
DeleteYou're gonna love this come those dark, dreary days in January and February
ReplyDeleteHugs
That's the idea :-)
