Diet Progress

I lost 3 pieces/4.5 yards in only 3 weeks with Stash Diet!*

*results not typical

So, how are we doing, Dieters?  As I write this, I've got three finished objects made from stash fabrics.  I've actually cut a fourth piece, but the garment is not finished, so I'm not counting it yet.

We've been seeing a few stashy FOs cropping up over on the group, but we also thought it would be fun to have a monthly round-up.  You know, just to keep everyone honest and on track.  Andrea and I are going to rotate hosting the round-ups, and I'll be starting off with the January issue.

So if you have a Stash Diet FO or two, or three, and would like to show off your Dieting success, send me the links to your blog posts by January 31, midnight wherever you are.  Once I've got everything I'll compile it all into a post and get it up a few days after.

For those of you with blogs, I'll just "grab" pictures from your posts and re-post them here.  (Depending on how many we get, I may make each Dieter's FOs into a collage.)  For those without blogs, please send me your pictures, as I can't grab from Flickr.  We definitely want to include everyone!

Send in your January results to:  dokucug at gmail dot com

I wonder who will be the biggest loser?

  1. I've made 4 projects made using my stash fabrics and now working on number 5. I'm using some of another printed cotton fabric as muslin for my project because I have LOADS of it. Could this really be considered number 6?

    1. Wow, you are on a roll! Hmmm, not sure about #6. I say that because I'm in the same boat with my fourth project (which I'm hoping will be a wearable muslin): it's being made from 2 yards of leftover fabric. But it's only using one of those yards, and I'm not considering it used up until I get rid of ALL of it!

    1. It's almost like a real diet, LOL! Some folks are even weighing their fabric!

  4. Question-- can you grab things from the blog if, say, I post my pictures to it from Flickr? :)

My status as of now is 3 pieces busted, one given away (to my mom, no luck via the SWAP yet), and 4 more pieces partially used since I did all that pants cutting. I'm hoping I can actually get as much of that sewn as possible before the end of the month, but we'll see since I'm probably going to lose this weekend.

  5. Wow, Gail! Way to bust that stash! I haven't bought any fabric this January, and I'm still feeling excited with the upcoming stash projects I have planned. The fabric shelf is breathing a little easier these days :) My kimono and denim trousers are from stashed fabric and I'd love to be added to the roundup!

    1. I've been strong too, although I admit I've been tempted a time or two :-) I'm going to have to figure out how to achieve my pants and jacket goals while Dieting, since all but 2 of my stashed fabrics are only appropriate for dresses and blouses! Oops!

    2. I found myself in the same situation last year, starting the Stashbusting Sewalong and the Seamless pledge at the same time. Maybe the new purchases you earn are some nice bottomweights!

  7. Hi Gail, I'm getting on the scales quarterly so no weight loss to report but I did sew up a fabric I bought back in August, pattern hacked to make my patterns go further, made a lined vent sample with smaller scraps, shipped two fabrics, 6 balls of yarn and a pattern for swaps and got my next make partially sewn. Just one zip purchased!

  9. Hihi, that's a really funny post - it made me smile :) And I really like the idea that you and Andrea are going to post the makes of the dieters :) I only have made one garment so far and until I haven't solved my fitting issues, I can't make another one! I wish I had more jerseys in my stash, they are much better to fit!

    1. One is better than none! I wish I had more jersey too - it seems like it's all I want to sew or wear these days! I have a few, and I'm trying to space them out so I don't use them all up and be left with none!
