Unsolicited Advice

I'll be honest:  finishing a sweater isn't the most fun part of the process.  But it's not the worst either!  I tend to use my finishing as a respite from knitting:  those times when I've been knitting so much that my hands and fingers hurt and I just can't knit another stitch, but I still want to work on my sweater - those are the times I do most of my finishing.

I've finished knitting the back and both fronts (in their entirety) of the Exeter cardigan.  I have started on the sleeves, but I've also been working on the finishing:  sewing closed the pockets, weaving in the ends, closing the collar with Kitchener stitch and seaming the shoulders and sides.  That way I feel like I still have forward movement on the project,  and once I finish the sleeves I'll truly be almost done!

    1. Not at all! Just thought I'd share my general outlook on finishing, because I think it's a little different from how most people approach it.

  3. That's a great way to do it -- I remember that I used to do that when I crocheted a lot. When I just couldn't do one more repeat of whatever I was working on, I started to weave in some ends or something. Unfortunately the other thing I tended to do is start another project, which is very counterproductive in comparison. I don't do that quite as much anymore!

    1. Me too! But I've been trying to reform! I've been almost monogamous with this project :-)

  4. How awesome that you're almost done with this project. I lag badly when there's some kind of finishing involved.

    1. Interesting that you said that - I have been kind of thinking of writing some posts about finishing, because I think it's so important. Will try to do it as I go along on my next sweater, as it's too late for this one!
