Sponging for Dummies

Here's another stamping from the new Bundle Monster set.  This one reminded me a lot of the sponging technique, which I still haven't been able to master.

I had a really hard time lining this one up at the bottom edge of my nails, so some of the dark areas are abruptly straight near my cuticles.  Also, clean-up was a bear with this very dark blue-violet polish.  Next time I'll prepare my skin with a little something slippery beforehand!

Here's what the image looks like on the plate, for comparison's sake:

I used the image at 3:00.  I guess you can tell I had a hard time getting it centered too!  I'm looking forward to trying this one with a metallic color over a creme.

  1. Hi, yellowbird - I posted this question on Ravelry, but thought I'd put it here too in case you don't visit Ravelry often....

I’m about to start this great little sweater (Miette), and I’m learning a lot from your KAL, but I’m stuck at the beginning with a question. I’m planning to use Berroco Linsey, and my gauge is 20 - my actual bust is about 38, but I don’t want it too tight. You mentioned figuring out what the stitch count should be at the bust, and using that number to see if you could just knit one of the bigger sizes. I have searched all through the pattern, and can’t see where you found your 153 for the medium size bust. Can you help me figure this out? I think with a gauge of 20, or 5 st per inch, and a finished size of 37 or 38, I need about 190 stitches, but I need to see if the size 42 is close to that at the bust. If not, I’m hooped, as my kids would say.

    Hoping,
    Pbjelly

Also neat that your hard work on the knit-along is still helping people! :)

    1. I see nail stamping as a mini art project! Ten tiny canvases :-)

  4. I'm just catching up on your posts today - your nail art has been incredible and I just don't know how you do it! Sorry about the tee shirt collar. I still think it's wearable and you can just consider that little runching a detail! ; )

    1. I may actually torque (thanks Maddie!) a binding even more in the future, for just that effect!

  5. I love this one! What in the world is at the 12 o'clock position on the plate? Looked like a bat in a paint blob to me, but that's pushing it!

    1. Isn't it funny! I had the same reaction, only I was thinking it's a bat with dripping guano!
