My Leopard Levels are constant.

What a busy weekend!  But not too busy to get Hubby to snap a few photos of one of my latest makes - yet another Archer!  Have I mentioned I like making TNT patterns a million times?  Honestly, I do the same with RTW - if I find something that fits well and that I love, I buy it in all the colors I like.

This Archer is leopard-print - something I've been wanting to have in my closet for a long time.  The more I wear leopard, the more I realize the print goes with so much.  But on Saturday I went old school, with some boyfriend jeans, black ankle-strap flats, and a strand of vintage turquoise beads.

It was a little chilly!

I posted a shot of this shirt on Instagram on Saturday too, and faked some folks out.  I think some of you assumed that this is the leopard fabric I bought a couple weeks ago in New York, and that I made it up lickety-split.  But in fact, I had purchased this piece a few weeks before.  It's a super soft and filmy cotton voile that I ordered from Harts Fabric, sadly no longer available.

Now, technically I shouldn't have been buying any new fabric.  BUT:  last December, when I was making my Leopard Sequins top, I wasn't sure it would work out, so when I saw a piece of the sequin fabric on deep discount, I bought it as a back-up.   Last month, I gifted that piece to Andrea so she could make a similar top, so I figured I was justified in filling the Leopard Void I'd created.  My Leopard Levels remained the same, as did my stash numbers.

I don't think it's overkill to make two leopard-print Archers.  The two fabrics are very different in texture, color and print.  Here's a closer look at this one:

That said, I likely won't make the silk leopard Archer til closer to fall, since that fabric is so much heavier.

And now that my guests have gone, I'm going to set up my sewing space once again.  I have high hopes of getting started on an Emery dress this week!

  2. I love it! Looks great on you and I bet it's really nice in voile. I am all for multiples, I do the same thing with shoes and I'm doing it with sewing now. I totally see why leopard can go with so many things. Sadly I think my closet is lacking in it right now, but I remember I used to have a pair of leopard print flats and wore them with all sorts of things.

  3. I agree with you on the TNT. It's a quick go to in something that you enjoy. This is a very pretty multiple-use top.

    1. Thank you, Dorothy! You're right - even though it takes me 6 - 8 hours to make one of these shirts, I've done it so many times now that I can do it on auto-pilot! It's so nice sometimes to just be able to get on with the sewing without too much thinking :-)

    1. I'm thinking I might have to come up with some kind of Leopard Scale of Happiness . . .

      Thank you!

  5. I'm all for measuring leopard levels! I love TNTs - once I've put time into making a pattern work, I want to get as much use from it as possible, especially if I can hack it in some way.

I bet that voile is super comfy now that we're having some warmer days!

  9. I can imagine you thinking 'I need to replenish my 'pard levels, STAT!' And quite frankly I don't blame you. I think I need a voile pard shirt next summer, would be so cute with black shorts...... Nice one, as always!

    1. Thank you, Linda! It took a fair few adjustments, but I'm so happy to have a shirt pattern that works for me, as the RTW shirts never fit me properly!

  11. All your Archers look so great! I really want to get to this point with that pattern, to make it over and over and over, but I have a buttonhole/snap issue. My machine just cannot handle it! I don't really have an excuse for the snaps, I know they're easy but the prospect of hammering something is too exhausting somehow... You're an inspiration, though :)

    1. Thank you, Kelly! The ability to make good buttonholes is a MUST for me! I love hammering stuff, but somehow, I just can't get behind the snaps - it seems like way too much work!

  12. My gosh you are just too cute. I like that leopard on you. You styled it on the dot. I used to not like animal prints but after getting my boots with the inside purple leopard fabric, I am digging leopard more which led to that gray pullover. I want some brown now.

    1. Thank you! My BFF tried for years to get me to wear leopard, and I just couldn't do it - I felt too shy! But the last couple years I've had a change of heart :-)

  13. Lovely (and thanks again for the leopard sequined fabric, which I just packed today - I'm all ready for Friday's move!) and of course two leopard Archers is not overkill. At all. You really are making me want to give this pattern another go...

  14. Yesterday I saw a woman wearing a leopard print parka and I had to immediately think about you :) I was never a fan of animal prints, but start to like them more and more, especially after seeing your lovely leopard print garments. I like your outfit very much! Amazing Archer :)

    1. That's too funny! I'm the same way - I started a couple years ago with one pair of leopard-print flats, and things have kind of snowballed since then, LOL!
