My Sweater

At long last!  Here's how it looks on a body.  And this is how my body looks much of the time:  yoga pants, tee shirt and Birks!

Option A:  closed

Option B:  open

See how versatile it is?

It's super cozy too - if you've ever felt Calmer, you know how squishy it is.  I really love it.  This one will be going to Germany with me in May.  It's going to be perfect for wearing on the airplane.

I know I griped a lot about the collar while I was making this, but it was worth it in the end.  I probably wouldn't do it again, but I'm glad I did it the first time.

So many of the sweaters I've made over the years have been designed by Kim Hargreaves.  Her designs tend to have a timeless, classic quality.  This sweater is from her booklet The Calmer Collection; I've made three of the designs from this book, and I'm thinking about making a fourth.

Any other Calmer or Kim lovers out there?  What are your favorite patterns for Calmer?  I've got enough left for 2 sweaters, and I'm trying to pick what I want to do with it!

  1. I love it!
I've been at this knitting thing for three years this May so my sweater knitting is limited. I haven't heard of Calmer or Kim before, but will have to check them out!

    1. I think Calmer would be good for your climate - it's a cotton/acrylic mix!

  2. Wow! I am always so amazed by knitters. I am still knitting a friend's scarf that was due to her at Christmas! I think I chose to do such a simple stitch (I won't say, too embarrassed) that I'm bored with it. I need to just do something a bit more challenging. Then maybe I can make something handy, like a sweater!

I love the color. And it really does look nice and cozy.

    1. I've been thinking about starting a knit along to help guide newer knitters through a sweater. Any interest or ideas?

  3. So nice to see you in your new sweater. I've not yet knit a Kim design but with your recommedation, I should try. Yes, start a KAL -- it would be fun!

    1. She does have a wide range of patterns - some very simple, and some quite complicated.

  4. So pretty! I have a robe extremely similar to this and it's so comfy and cosy :)
You already know I'm quite keen for a knitalong, haha :)

    1. That's funny - my first thought when I put it on was, "Mmmmm - it feels like a robe!" In a good way, I mean!

  5. Aww, this is so cozy and sweet! I love it! And you look so pretty in pink! I've only used Calmer for baby sweaters, and they turned out nicely-- it's soft, but sturdy.

  6. It's beautiful! As you know, I'm a Kim fan too, though I haven't made nearly as many as you ;-). I have a bag of black Calmer still, and I've always wanted to make Whisper. Of course, that's not a useful suggestion for you because you've already made it, LOL!

    1. Oh - this sweater would be really elegant in black (for you - I look terrible in black! it washes me out!).

  7. You look so cute in your new cardigan. I love Kim and Calmer both. Right now I'm knitting the Rocky Coast Cardigan from Coastal Knits using Calmer but it's way off gauge and I have too much fudging numbers to recommend the yarn with the pattern. I also have a big old stash of Calmer, so let me know what you decide to do with yours!

    1. Thanks, Kristen! I'm leaning toward a pink Shimmer (KH) or the Loll cardigan with the remainder of my pink Calmer :-)

That Rocky Coast cardigan is so pretty - I may have to get this book!

  8. Pink & Snuggle-y.
You've done it again, Gail Knew you would.
You're certainly very high on my inspiration/motivation list.
I'm well into my first pullover and finding it fun, even with row upon row of stockinette

  10. Looks great! I have tried neither Calmer nor Kim--perhaps when my sweater knitting mojo returns I will fix that.
