Don't say I didn't warn you.

Here's me, in all my dorkiness, wearing Hubby's Hat.  Bear in mind that his head is 2" larger in circumference than mine:

Yes, I'm in my pajamas, and no makeup.  I have no shame.  Actually, you don't need any when your pajamas are pink leopard print.

I'm still not 100% satisfied with this hat.  I think it's a little big on him - or rather, a little too deep.  He had it pushed back on his forehead when he came home, making a crease across the brow.  And obviously it's not especially stylish.  And this morning he told me that although his ears are covered, the knit fabric is still letting the wind in.

Back to the drawing board!

  1. Boys... they're never satisfied! I don't make anything for mine because it's always "too itchy" or "too puffy" or "too something" and it never gets worn.

Hmmm, I wonder what would have the wind-proofing effect he's looking for... when I lived in Chicagoland we did the super fashionable thing of wearing a knit hat underneath our coat hoods. But as you said, nobody looks cool in Chicago winter, so you don't look goofier than anybody else!

    Love the pajamas!!

  2. He's actually always happy with the things I make him. :-) It's just that we're trying to solve the problem of his cold ears! The street his office is on is like a wind tunnel, and it gets very cold!

  3. You are a fabulous sport for sharing with us! I wonder if a fleece lining on part of it may give additional protection for the ears?

I *love* your bathroom. If DH would let me, I"d totally pain a wall that color!

  4. This is such a clever design -- you are so talented! I like soknitpicky's suggestion about adding fleece. That might work for both keeping his ears warm and making the hat less deep?

  5. Thanks, SKP and Evelyn! I was thinking of going back and picking up stitches to knit a second layer on the inside, but you guys gave me the idea to also insert some fleece or something before sewing it up!

  6. Ahh, Gail. I have a suggestion.
Heather At highland Handmades made a lined beanie for her hubby who works outside in Maine.
Her pattern is available on Ravelry:

btw, you did a great job designing your/hubby's hat.
Of course, you did a wonderful job modeling in your Terrific PJs.
